KBIS TRIALTIME HIGHCLERE CASTLE HORSE TRIALS

August 28th-29th-30th

VENUE:       HIGHCLERE CASTLE Nr Newbury, Berks RG20 9RN
EVENT:         NATIONAL HORSE TRIALS AND COUNTRY FAIR
DATE:           AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY 28th – 29th – 30th  2010

Once again The Earl and Countess of Carnarvon have opened the glorious parkland at Highclere Castle over the August Bank Holiday for the National Horse Trials and Country Fair, sponsored by Kbis Horse Insurance.

This year, an extra day has been added featuring all three disciplines, dressage; show jumping and cross country, in order to fit in the BE100 Junior Riders Final; the Mitsubishi Motors Stately Homes Intermediate Challenge Final; the 5yr old Young Horse Qualifier and the extra Intermediate sections that have been rerouted from a cancelled event in the Cotswolds.   Over 700 horses and riders are now expected over the three days to compete in what is said to be the ultimate test for both horse and rider.

International riders such as William Fox-Pitt, Zara Phillips, Andrew Nicholson and Lucinda and Clayton Fredericks will, all things being equal, bring their top horses for a last run before the Burghley Horse Trials the following week-end and Blenheim Palace Horse Trials
the week-end after.

As always, there will be many other attractions.   The fun dog shows, for instance, judged by actress Jenny Hanley, known by so many as a delicious ‘Bond’ girl, and the presenter of Magpie.   All visiting dogs of any shape or size will be welcome to enter these fun dog shows that go on all day on all three days. ( One year the dog with the curliest tail turned out to be a pot bellied pig on a very stout lead).   There will be dog agility demonstrations plus some very sound advice about how to deal with your problem dogs; a new additionto our 2nd arena attractions will be the Horse Agility, orchestrated by Vanessa Bee, which will undoubtedly prove very popular because of the amazing display of equine obedience; shire horses will be strutting their stuff; ferrets will be ferreting about  and once again the terriers will be racing against all comers (large or small).

For those with energy to burn there will be the stomach churning Extreme Trampolines plus many other fun and exciting things to keep the children happy all day long. If shopping is your thing then a wander round the many interesting and varied trade stands will suit you very well..   Perfect for VERY early Christmas Shopping.     And, of course, there is the amazing experience of entering the interior of the spectacular Highclere Castle with the fascinating Egyptian Exhibition in the vast, winding cellars.   (Castle closed on Saturday but open on the Sunday and Monday)

For those who like tranquillity, a leisurely walk through the beautiful landscaped grounds is a wonderful way to unwind.   Bring the whole family for a great day out.   There's something for everyone to enjoy -  plenty of food outlets and a public bar as well.

So much to choose from and only three days to fit everything in.!
